We are a walking distance away from the University of Pretoria - about 5 blocks from the nearest entrance (~600m)
The Hive Hatfield is exclusively a student accommodation.
Yes, The Hive Hatfield is a commune. You can view pictures of our residences here to get a feel and appreciation of the place.
Our sharing/twin rooms are the cheapest, starting from a minimum of R2,600 per bed per month.
Our single rooms are from R3,000 per month.
As of 2025 we charge no deposit.
Staying at The Hive is so easy you don't need to apply for anything! All you need to do is come and view our available rooms - take a pick - make your rental payment and sign our contract. Then that's it - you receive your room key and can move in!
To obtain a lease agreement with us, you need the following documents:
- A copy of respective ID document(s).
- In case of bursary, provide proof of bursary documentation and payment schedule.
Yes, our blocks consist of both single and twin (sharing) rooms.
Of course! Each room is furnished with the following for each tenant:
- A Single Bed,
- A Study table + Chair,
- A Wardrobe/cupboard.
Yes, bachelors have own bathrooms.
Our blocks have varying occupancies, with our smallest block having 4 rooms and our largest with 29 rooms. Visit our Residences page to know more about each block.
Yes, our Wi-Fi is available in all the blocks, and all our tenants receive complementary Wi-Fi every month.
We also have DSTV - but only in the communal spaces.
Unfortunately not. However, our location in Hatfield places us conveniently at a walking distance away from institutions such as the University of Pretoria Hatfield Campus, Getting to Know English Centre (GTKEC), Emendy Multimedia Institute, MSC Business College.
If you want to go further, we are located along Pretorius street where you can catch a taxi into the CBD. We're 2 blocks away from the Gautrain Hatfield station and the nearest A Re Yeng station.
No, we do not have a laundry service.
Yes, we have parking spaces available on site at R300 per space per month.
Our premises are safe, as we have biometric access and 24hr security within the premises.
Visitors are welcome only between 08h00 and 22h00 provided they observe The Hive house rules and the lease agreement. A tenant may up to a maximum of TWO visitors at any given time.
